Organisation description
A historic opportunity has arisen to join an establishing board of a new, independent investment entity designed to manage and grow Napier ratepayer funds for the future. As one of two independent directors, you will play a pivotal role in guiding the strategic direction and governance of this ambitious initiative. This is a rare chance to shape the financial future of the city, ensuring that public investment assets are invested wisely, ethically, and with long-term growth in mind.
Ahuriri Investment Management Ltd (AIM) is a Council Controlled Trading Organisation (CCTO) being established by the Napier City Council to manage a long-term investment portfolio, aiming to generate income for the city by utilising assets like the Parklands residential development land and commercial leasehold land, reducing the need to rely solely on rates to fund council activities; essentially creating a more financially sustainable future for Napier through strategic investments.
As a Council Controlled Organisation (CCTO), Ahuriri Investment Management Ltd (AIM) will manage Napier City Council’s Investment Portfolio of $170M - $200M for commercial gain in a socially responsible manner whilst supporting Council’s core services and initiatives.
Particular skills/competencies sought
It is necessary that all candidates possess sound commercial judgement in decision-making and have a commitment to upholding the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical conduct. AIM is seeking a board with diversity of skills and the composition of the board will be of such that each director brings a differing area of expertise.
