The organisation

Safety Solutions Limited is a privately owned company established in New Zealand in 1993. Over the past decade, the business has expanded into Australia, initially operating from New Zealand and more recently building a permanent presence with locally based staff. The company has steadily grown to a team of 25 professionals across several locations.

Today, Safety Solutions is recognised as one of New Zealand’s largest risk management firms, with deep expertise across high-risk industries including oil and gas, petrochemical, refining, hazardous substances, chemicals, dairy, power generation, and pulp and paper.

The business is structured around three specialist service areas: training and e-learning, consultancy, and engineering all delivered with a strong focus on high-hazard risk management.

To support the next phase of growth and development, Safety Solutions have identified the need for an Independent Chairperson. 

The skills and experience sought

This is a rare opportunity to help shape the direction of a complex, high-performing business. We are seeking candidates with:

Essential attributes:

• Governance experience 
• A proven track record in growing a business across New Zealand and Australia.
• Understanding of high hazard manufacturing industries
• Experience in senior leadership roles within large organisations
• Proven commercial acumen and strategic oversight
• An ability to guide, mentor and upskill the leadership team
• Understanding and appreciation of online learning
• Strong technical knowledge – digital transformation, AI etc.

Commitment required

Boards meet approximately 6 times per year, meetings typically run for 2-4 hours and are a mix of in-person and virtual attendance.
